Take Me To The O-Y-O
We’re travelling south on Interstate 75 about an hour and a half from Cincinnati. We left this morning at 10 am.
I like to think that I’m a pretty tough guy but this life-style is draining. The “romance” of the road wore off years ago. In some ways that’s good because now I’m motivated almost exclusively by the music. The dance of the notes in front of an appreciative audience is euphoric.
The back seat of the truck isn’t all that comfortable. It’s not as bad as sitting on an amplifier, but a few hours of it is enough to make my left side, from the ass down, numb and unresponsive. When we have a rest stop and I have to get out, I waddle like a stooped duck. It’s funny to all but me.
The show isn’t until tomorrow night, so we’ll likely gather in the restaurant at the hotel and have an expensive feeding frenzy.
5:30 pm
We arrived shortly before 5, checked in, and unloaded just the necessary things from the truck like suitcases, back packs, duffle bags, and whatever we’re not comfortable with leaving in there overnight. In my case that would be my cumbersome 88 key Yamaha MODX8.
Hauling this keyboard back and forth to my room is a pain in the ass. The loss of it though, would be catastrophic.
It’s official. The feeding frenzy begins at 7 pm.
I’ve already seen the menu. There are one or two selections that don’t include land-animal or shellfish parts.
I can eat!
8:45 pm
If medicine was at the point where bionics were safe and there were a few inexpensive options available to increase our enjoyment of life, I have two customizations I would consider.
- A volume switch for thoughts. Frequently my brain has the gain level at eleven even if the dial only goes to ten. I don’t want to shut off the chatter, just turn it down so I can focus on important things like South Park, The Simpsons, Wheel Of Fortune etc……
- A zipper for my stomach. I ate too much tonight. Describing how this would work would be TMI.
You can assume that the “feeding frenzy” was a success. I’m on the bed in my room feeling like a beached whale.
Tomorrow’s another day and another chance to dance with the notes and to regale the audience with tales of woe and glee.
In the meantime folks, thanks for tuning in and please visit again.
