It Ended Well

FORD

How to keep your readers in suspense

We landed in Victoria around 1:30 pm PST. Rick immediately headed for the AVIS car rental kiosk, which was conveniently located near the baggage carousel. That saved some time. The only vehicle he was able to reserve was small and would have been a pain in the ass for the three days we needed it.
However, his son, Rick Jr., who lives in Florida and doesn’t know the meaning of “no”, had been working on this problem from thousands of miles away. When Rick Sr. enquired about his reservation at the desk, the small car had morphed into a brand new, full-size Ford Expedition SUV. This all-black behemoth that sits high above the road is even more intimidating than those oversized bully pickup trucks driven by rednecks with small genitalia.
Like an elephant, this fossil fuel guzzler is not what you’d want to own here in Eco Lotus Land, but it’s fun to visit……and it’s exactly what we need.
So we barrelled north on Trans Canada 1, parting traffic like it was the Red Sea, and made such good time that we were able to unload and check into the hotel in Nanaimo before going to the music store!
And yes, we got the keyboard and later, in my hotel room, I was able to load into it all the programs I need for the show.
Life is good.
The scenery, incidentally, was spectacular. This is God’s country.

Tuesday Nov. 11
Load-in today is at 2:30 pm.
I’ll try to report on and review the show later.
